Daily at Anthroposophical Prison Outreach work is being done to bring people in prison who want to help themselves and improve their lives the gift of self-development practices, inner work, meditative exercises, and study of Rudolf Steiner’s insights. Incarcerated individuals write APO in hopes of finding deeper meaning and understanding in their lives, and through these practices of study, reading and meditative work prisoners begin to feel hopeful and inspired. Guidance through our lending library, mentorship program, correspondence course, Enter Light-Voices from Prison art & poetry events, and our newsletter Illuminating Anthroposophy we see prison participants transform themselves in deep meaningful ways. Already in our twenty-fourth year incarcerated individuals in over 800 prisons seek to be part of a community of people who wish to better themselves. Please help us continue reaching many more who wish to join us on this path of discovery of self.
Over the Anthroposophical Prison Outreach Walkathon week-end this year I'll be walking 7 miles on the Riverfront in Detroit and also along a nature trail in Ann Arbor. My deepest gratitude to all who have sponsored my walk for APO in previous years and those who will help me accomplish my goal this year.
Warm thanks! Kathy
This Year’s Walk-a-thon is September 20 – 22, 2024
We hope you will join in to Walk, Run, or Cycle!
Anthroposophical Prison Outreach inspires inner change in men and women who are in prison. Our lending library, meditation instruction, correspondence course and twice yearly newsletters support students in their self-development. And, as you know, when one person changes, it radiates to those around them. Your donation makes a big difference in the world. Click the button above to join in as a walker gathering support or to make a general donation. You can also sponsor a specific walker, just scroll down to view our walkers/runners/cyclists! Thank you for your support!
Where will this walk-a-thon be held? It's everywhere! This is a nationwide event with no set course or distance. Walkers and cyclists can participate wherever they happen to be throughout the weekend. Each volunteer gathers in sponsors and in this way a broad group of individuals sustains APO. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000. This will support over 1,200 people across the US - individuals who are serving time in prison and have taken up a path of inner development through the work of the APO. Your support makes a real difference.
I would like to acknowledge the great work you guys are doing for prisoners who reach out for knowledge. I speak for all of us as a whole within the penal system when I say we are grateful. I’m a firm believer that what we achieve in this life will benefit us in the next life so I like to learn as much as I can. Anthony, Bruceton Mills, WV
Anthroposophy has opened a new reality for me. It transformed me. It has made me aware to what is real. It helped me understand spiritual evolution and showed me the value of each soul. Robert, Grafton, OH
