It has been almost 2 years since I retired from a job that took me inside many Federal, State and local prisons, allowing me to meet with incarcerated individuals. During my thirty years of visiting folks inside of prisons, I met individuals who were hopeful and those with little hope. The ones wtih hope almost always had an interest in the spiritual.
Anthroposophy studies the spiritual wisdom within human activity, weaving a tapestry of western spiritual traditions that can be applied to personal and social problems. It is based on the insights of Rudolf Steiner.
Anthroposophical Prison Outreach (APO) provides incarcerated individuals access to spiritual literature throgh a lending library and newsletter, as well as opportunities to develop a correspondance with individuals outside of prison to discuss spiritual matters, including issues of psychological, moral and spritual self development. This APO event is in support of the resources needed to carry of the work of the lending library, publish a newsletter and set up the letter writing with folks behind the wall.

Anthroposophical Prison Outreach makes this wisdom available to a poplulation that would not otherwise have access... men and women who are serving time in prison! Our lending library, meditation instruction, correspondence course and twice yearly newsletters support students in their self-development. The courage and determination of our students is inspiring! Where will this Walk-a-thon be held? It's everywhere! This is a international event with no set course or distance. Walkers, runners, and cyclists can participate whereever they happen to be throughout the weekend. Each volunteer gathers in sponsors and in this way a broad group of individuals sustains APO. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000. This will support over 1,200 people across the US - individuals who are serving time in prison and have taken up a path of inner development through the work of the APO. Thank you for your support, it makes a real difference! Self-control and awareness has taken the place of negativity. It helps the situation so I don't make impulse base decisions that have no substance. Others tell me I'm different and more humble.
