The Spiritual Hierarchies and the Physical World

05/07/2024 01:00 PM - 04/01/2025 02:00 PM ET

Description

For the deeds of man on earth are nothing but the external expression of spiritual processes. Everything we do here is also of importance for the spiritual world.
~Rudolf Steiner, The Spiritual Hierarchies and the Physical World

Join us for a year-long study of Rudolf Steiner’s The Spiritual Hierarchies and the Physical World. Our study will begin in May 2024 and conclude in April 2025. At the beginning of each month, study participants will meet via Zoom to hear guiding thoughts from various presenters, and connect for conversation and reflection. After each Zoom call, participants will receive a new packet of materials to work with over the course of that month. Included in these curated study packets are suggested readings from Sergei O. Prokoffeif, Willi Sucher, study of the first Goetheanum, and more.

There are three main sources in the monthly study materials:

  •  The Spiritual Hierarchies and the Physical World (GA 110)  Lectures by Rudolf Steiner
  •  The Language of Color in the First Goetheanum by Hilde Raske
  •  The Twelve Holy Nights and the Spiritual Hierarchies  by Sergei O. Prokoffeif

This study is inspired by an intitiave called G.E.M.S (Georgraphically Engaged Member Study) which was initiated and led by Margaret Shipman in 2002 and continued for many years. G.E.M.S was created to connect people across vast and disparate geographic locations, so they could join in community through engaged and meaningful study. We are excited to offer this year's program, which was created by Margaret Shipman and dedicated co-workers Sue and Don Mohler, and John Koop. Throughout the year, we will also be joined by other artists and guest speakers.

Margaret considers the work of Rudolf Steiner to be the core of her life. In 2002 she started a national study group for anthroposophy – Geographically Engaged Members Study Group, or G.E.M.S. She is a cellist and pianist and spent 36 years repairing and making instruments of the violin family. She coauthored Violin Restoration with her mentor, Hans Weisshaar, who was in the second-ever Waldorf class and knew Rudolf Steiner as a child.
