It has been eighty years since the founding of the first Camphill community in Aberdeen, Scotland, founded by Karl König. His work laid the foundation for using the twelve senses as a diagnostic tool and has continued to inform those working in this field. These topics will be explored in depth at “Pathways to a Human Future: The Twelve Senses”, an in-person conference hosted by the Threefold Education Foundation in Spring Valley, NY, slated for 2021.

PRESENTERS

Jane Swain is a pediatric physical therapist and an adult educator at Sophia’s Hearth. She has presented at regional and international conferences and
published several articles on pediatric movement. Jane is a previous movement education teacher in the younger grades at Monadnock Waldorf School. She is certified in Bothmer Gymnastics, Sensory Integration Praxis Testing, and Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment. Jane is also a senior therapeutic trainer with the Spacial Dynamics Institute.

 

Harlan Gilbert is an educator and writer.  He teaches in Green Meadow Waldorf High School and various teacher education programs and gives workshops and lectures in many locations in the US and abroad.
 

 

Joan Sleigh was born and raised in the Camphill communities in South Africa. Joan worked as class teacher at Michael Oak Waldorf School from 1995 – 2012 and as a teacher trainer at the Centre for Creative Education from 2006 – 2012. She is a member of the International Forum for Steiner / Waldorf Schools (Hague Circle) and coordinator of the Pedagogical Section in Cape Town since 2010. She became a member of the Executive Council of the General Anthroposophical Society in 2013.
